The institute carries out studies on water management issues and prepares expert reports. FiW has made major contributions to the technical and energetic optimization of waste water systems as well as the energy recovery at waste water treatment plants.
Institute for Environmental Research, RWTH Aachen University

The Institute for Environmental Research at the RWTH Aachen consists of the Chair of Environmental Biology and Chemodynamics (UBC) and the Department of Ecosystem Analysis (ESA). Research focusses on the fate of environmentally relevant chemicals and synthetic nanoparticles in soil and water and their effects on aquatic and terrestrial communities. Numerous research projects on these aspects have been performed (BMBF, DFG, EU, DBU) and published.

Institute for Infrastructure and Resource Management (IIRM), University Leipzig

Leipzig University’s Institute for Infrastructure and Resource Management (IIRM) accompanies the development of innovative environmental technologies and develops planning and management tools for the sustainable use of the resources water, waste, soil, land and energy. IIRM intends to be the point of contact for clients requiring application-oriented and implementable solutions for integrated infrastructure and resource challenges at a corporate, municipal, national and international level. The institute is employed by private and public sector companies, state and federal agencies as well as the EU.

TERRA URBANA Umlandentwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (TUG)

TERRA URBANA is a nationally and internationally operating planning and development company since 1993. We conduct applied research and development on clean and sustainable technologies in the fields of water, environment, resources and energy. Innovative ideas for resource conservation, renewable raw materials and closed material cycles are designed and launched in cooperation with companies and research partners.

Through international collaborative projects, TUG has acquired specialist knowledge, particularly in the field of aquaponics. In using treated greywater for fish and plant production, the TUG is the head of the work package ‘farm technology’ in the RoofWaterFarm-Project in Berlin.

EvU® Innovative Umwelttechnik GmbH is an established company that continuously researches, develops and implements modern and environmentally-friendly technologies for the industrial and municipal sewage sector. Our procedures for the use of edyable biofilm biology by means of EvU-Pearl® have grown in their own development and are constantly being further developed.

For more than 25 years, EvU® Innovative Umwelttechnik GmbH has been responsible for the development of environmental technology (Entwicklung von Umwelttechnik). Through our research, we actively take responsibility for our environment.

Left Lower Rhine Water Association (LINEG)

LINEG is an association of public law. She can look backwards on more than 100 years of existence. LINEG is responsible for the waste water treatment and in for the conservation and the management of groundwater on the left side of the Rhine. She operates many large sewage treatment plants and takes care of the topics resource efficiency and sustainable water use. Because of that LINEG recently completed intensive studies about anaerobic treatment of different industrial waste waters.

On the area of the waste water treatment plant “Moers Gerdt” is the central laboratory situated where most of the analytical parameters are analyzed and simultaneously some central engineering task are done.
